Junior GAP account: gold savings for children under 18

How to open a Public Gold Junior account for a child under 18 with a parent or guardian, and what happens when the child turns 18.

Updated 25 Oct 2026

Summary

  • Children under 18 cannot register on their own.
  • A Junior account is opened together with a parent or guardian.
  • When the child turns 18, the account can be moved into the child's name.

Before you start

  • Your child's identification document
  • The parent's or guardian's details

Steps

  1. Open the Junior account form. Use Public Gold's official form for Junior accounts.
  2. Enter the child's name exactly. Write it as on the government ID, including Bin, Binti, A/L or A/P.
  3. Add the parent's or guardian's details. A child under 18 must be registered together with a parent or guardian.
  4. Submit and wait for approval. The application is subject to Public Gold's approval.
  5. Start buying GAP. Once the account is active, buying works the same as a normal account. See the GAP buying guide.
  6. Move it into the child's name at 18. According to the official form, the account can be transferred to the child's name alone once they turn 18.

Good to know

The exact documents needed for the child, and for the transfer at 18, can change. Follow what the official form asks for.

Stay safe: never share your password or TAC code with anyone, including us. We never ask for a photo of your IC.
